Presidential candidate Sarath Fonseka met His Grace Archbishop Malcolm Ranjith today, 01st January 2010, at the Archbishop's House, Borella.
Sarath Fonseka is due to contest in the Presidential Elections to be held on 26th January 2010 and UNP ( United National Party ) and the JVP (People’s Liberation Front ) had decided to support him at the Presidential Election.
During the discussion, His Grace Archbishop Malcolm Ranjith discussed with him concerns pertaining to the people of Sri Lanka and asked his policy on national and ethnic unity, religious freedom and constructions of places of worship, religious harmony, also his policy for minorities and Catholic schools and Colleges, specially His Grace the Archbishop inquired his plans for the development of the North and East, and also what would be his plans to bring solutions to the ethnic issues in the country.
Hon. Ranil Wickramasinghe, and UNP Parliamentarians Ravi Karunanayake, Dr. Jayalath Jayawardena accompanied him to the Archbishop's House and there were no representatives present from the JVP. |
