20 more houses were distributed to the Tsunami affected families in the Kalutara parish on 27th Oct. 2009 by His Grace Archbishop Malcolm Ranjith. The houses were built on a land purchased with the funds from the Tidal Wave Account of the Archdiocese with the generous financial assistance from German Caritas.

These 20 houses are built at Malwatta area in Kalutara.

In gratitude to all the assistance given by His Grace the Archbishop for the rehabilitation and reconstruction programme in the Archdiocese after the Tsunami disaster, the Seth Sarana Director Rev. Fr. Jude Raj Fernando, declared the housing project as the “Archbishop Malcolm Ranjith Housing Scheme”.

Inspite of the heavy work in Indonesia after the Tsunami disaster, His Grace Archbishop Malcolm was doing all possible to find donors and to direct funding partners to assist the rehabilitation and housing projects in Sri Lanka.
