Teachers' Day in the Archdiocese was held at the St. Joseph's College, Colombo 10 on 04th October 2009 with the participation of nearly 3000 Catholic teachers. His Grace the Archbishop Most Rev. Dr. Malcolm Ranjith presided at the Eucharistic celebration and the programme held afterwards, which was organized by the Education Office of the Archdiocese.
His Grace Archbishop Malcolm Ranjith presided at the Eucharistic celebration which was in triligual. Rev. Fr. Ranjith Madurawela, Archdiocesam Manager for Catholic Schools, the Episcopal Vicars, Coordinators for Education and several other Fathers concelebrated at the Mass.
After the Eucharistic celebration, programme of the Teachers Day was held at the auditorium of the College. His Grace addressing the teachers said " produce from your schools, spiritually matured saintly children. We spend lot of our resources, finances, and if we don't find desired results from these schools, then all our labour is in vain. I am not referring to the exam results, yes, the children must get good results and also schools must produce children with good characters, good discipline, children who could face the challenges of the modern day and bear witness to their faith very strongly"
