Several bus loads of pilgrims came last evening to Madhu Shrine to participate in the Pilgrimage programme organized by the Archdiocese of Colombo to be held from 14th - 17th May 2014.
His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, the Archbishop of Colombo, having declared this year as the Year of Mary Our Blessed Mother, invited the priests, religious and the faithful to join in a Pilgrimage to Madhu Shrine and participate in the 4-day Retreat programme at the Shrine.
In the morning, His Eminence Cardinal Malcolm presided at the Eucharistic celebration together with the Auxiliary Bishops. Several more priests and Sisters, who reached Madhu Shrine last evening participated in the Holy Mass. While His Lordship Bishop Emmanuel preached in Tamil and His Lordship Bishop Maxwell Silva preached in Sinhala.
Three talks on "Mary Our Mother" were given in the morning hours. Very inspiring and attractive talks were given by Rev. Fr. Cecil Joy Perera in English, Rev. Fr. Lintonn Joseph in Sinhala and Rev. Fr. Arulanantham Uthayadas in Tamil.
A large number of pilgrims were involved in several spiritual exercises today also including Confessions. Several priests were kept busy with special blessings on the pilgrims. Families and families were seen saying rosary before the statue of Our Lady of Madhu.
In the evening people gathered once again to hear the spiritual talks on "ROSARY" given by Rev. Fr. Darrel Coogne, Rev. Fr. Jude Algama, Rev. Fr. Terrence Perera in Sinhala and English and Rev. Fr. Roxten in Tamil.
Holy Mass was celebrated for the pilgrims who arrived during the day and for those could not participate in the Holy Mass held in the morning.
After the hour of adoration before the Blessed Sacrament, His Lordship Bishop Maxwell Silva presiding at the Benediction, imparted the blessing.
