Pilgrimage First Day

Many pilgrims have already started coming to Madhu Shrine to participate in the Pilgrimage programme organized by the Archdiocese of Colombo to be held from 14th - 17th May 2014.

His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, the Archbishop of Colombo, having declared this year as the Year of Mary Our Blessed Mother, invited the priests, religious and the faithful to join in a Pilgrimage to Madhu Shrine and participate in the 4-day Retreat programme at the Shrine.

Programme for the pilgrims started with the recitation of Rosary in all three languages in the even and thereafter His Eminence Cardinal Malcolm presided at the Eucharistic celebration together with theAuxiliary Bishops. About 94 priests and 76 Sisters participated in the evening programme and the Mass. Three homilies were by Very Rev. Fr. Shanthikumar Weliwita in English, Very Rev. Fr. Patrick Perera in Sinhala and Rev. Fr. Robinson Ramesh OMI in Tamil.

His Eminence Cardinal Malcolm welcomed all the pilgrims and invited them to follow the spiritual programme of the pilgrimage and to pray intensly during these days for the intentions of the families and also for the country.His Eminence reminded the faithful that Our Lady of Madhu brought peace and reconciliation to our country.

Tomorrow several priests are due to give talks on different themes in all three languages during the day. A large number of pilgrims were involved in several spiritual exercises including Confessions.
