Ordination of Priests 2012
08 NEW PRIESTS ORDAINED
IN THE ARCHDIOCESE OF COLOMBO

08 Deacons of the Archdiocese were ordained as priests on Saturday the 21st April 2012 at St. Lucia's Cathedral, Kotahena, Colombo 13.

His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, the Archbishop of Colombo, presided at the Sacerdotal Ordination ceremony together with the Auxiliary Bishops of the Archdiocese and also Archbishop Emeriti Nicholas Marcus Fernando and Oswald Gomis.. Rev. Bro. Gerard Ignatius Perera, belonging to the Cistercian Fathers' Congregation also beordained as a priest by His Eminence on the same day.

Hailing from Ethgalle in the Katana deanery is the youngest son of late Jayalath Balagallage Vincent Appuhamy and Ranaweera Arachchige Rita Malani, born on June 30, 1983.

He had his early education at St. Joseph’s Junior School, Kandawala. He joined St. Aloysius Minor Seminary, Borella in the year 2000 and in 2003 he joined St. Eymard Intermediate Seminary in Palathota, Kalutara.

In 2004 he joined the National Seminary Ampitiya, Kandy and after completing his philosophical and theological studies he entered the Urbaniana Pontifical University in Rome.

Bro. Dinesh will be the eighth priest to be ordained from the Parish of Kandawala.
He will celebrate his first Holy Mass on Sunday, April 22, 2012 at Our Lady of Sorrows, Church, Kandawala.

Rev. Deacon Dinesh Prashan

Born on June 26, 1986, is the son of Roy Premalal Paddilian and Indrani Cammilia Vishwakula of Batagama North. He had his school education at De Mazenod College, Kandana.

In 1999, he joined St. Aloysius Minor Seminary, Borella and in 2003 entered St. Eymard Intermediate Seminary in Palathota, Kalutara.

In 2004 he joined the National Seminary Ampitiya, Kandy and after completing his philosophical and theological studies he entered the Urbaniana Pontifical University in Rome.

Bro. Dinush will celebrate his first Holy Mass on Sunday April
22, 2012 at St. Anthony’s Church, Batagama. He will be the 14th priest to be ordained from the Batagama Parish.

Rev. Deacon Dinush Gayan Padilian

Hailing from Batagama, Bro. Anton is the eldest son of Don Joseph Weerasinghe and Muhamdiramge Jessica Alex Nimali Moraes. He was born on September 8, 1983 and had his early education at De Mazenod College, Kandana.

In 1998, he joined St. Aloysius Minor Semi­nary, Borella and in 2003 entered St. Eymard Intermediate Seminary in Palathota, Kalutara.

In 2004 he joined the National Seminary Ampitiya, Kandy and after completing his philosophical and theological studies he entered the Urbaniana Pontifical University in Rome.

He will be the 15th priest to be ordained from Batagama Parish. Bro. Anton will celebrate his first Holy Mass at St. Anthony’s Church, Batagama on Sunday, April 22, 2012.

Rev. Deacon Anton Sudaraka

Hailing from Hendala,Wattala, Bro. Duleep is the youngest son of Samaratunga Gunawardena Koralalege Don Julian and Alahapperuma Shiela Fonseka. He was born on September 20, 1980 and had his early education at St. Anthony’s College, Wat­tala.

In 1998, he joined St. Aloysius Minor Semi­nary, Borella and in 2003 entered St. Eymard Intermediate Seminary in Palathota, Kalutara.

In 2004 he joined the National Seminary Ampitiya, Kandy and after completing his philosophical and theological studies he entered the Urbaniana Pontifical University in Rome.

He will be the 15th priest to be ordained from the Nayakakanda Parish. Bro. Duleep will celebrate his first Holy Mass at St. Mary’s Church, Nayakakanda on Sunday, April 22, 2012.

Rev. Deacon Dulip Kamal Perera

Bro. Gihan hails from Batepola and is the son of Wellawattage Peter Austin Silva and Welgamage Somalatha Perera. He was born on August 18, 1982 and had his early education at Batepola Roman Catholic School.

In 1996, he joined St. Aloysius Minor Seminary, Borella and in 2003 entered St. Eymard Intermediate Seminary in Palathota, Kalutara.

In 2004 he joined the National Seminary Ampitiya, Kandy and after completing his philosophical and theological studies he entered the Urbaniana Pontifical University in Rome.

Bro. Gihan will celebrate his first Holy Mass at Our Lady of Carmel, Batepola on Sunday, April 22, 2012.

Rev. Deacon Gihan Sheno

Hails from Pamunugama and is the eldest son of Mihindukulasuriya Palakuttiyage Louis Pantalian Fernando and Hettiyadurage Jacintha Perera. He was born on December 22, 1984 and had his early education at Pamunugama Gonsalves Maha Vidyalaya and joined St. Aloysius Minor Seminary, Borella in 1998.

In 2003 entered St. Eymard Intermediate Seminary in Palathota, Kalutara.

In 2004 he joined the National Seminary Ampitia, Kandy and after completing his philosophical and theological studies he entered the Urbaniana Pontifical University in Rome.

He will be the 14th priest to be ordained from the Kepungoda Parish. Bro. Samindu will celebrate his first Holy Mass at St. Anthony’s Church, Kepungoda on Sunday, April 22, 2012.

Rev. Deacon Samindu Pathum Janitha

Hailing from Weligampitiya, Jaela, is the youngest son of late Merenghage Ranjith Fernando and Tammitage Margaret Patricia Fernando.

He was born on November 2, 1983 and had his early education at St. Mary’s College, Jaela. Later, he joined St. Aloysius Minor Seminary, Borella and in 2003 entered St. Eymard Intermediate Seminary in Palathota, Kalutara.

In 2004 he joined the National Seminary Ampitiya, Kandy and after completing his philosophical and theological studies he entered the Urbaniana Pontifical University in Rome.

He will be the 9th priest to be ordained from the Weligampitiya Parish.

Bro. Asitha will celebrate his first Holy Mass at St. Anne’s Church, Weligampitiya on Sunday, April 22, 2012.

Rev. Deacon Asitha Niranjana

Hailing from Weligampitiya, Jaela, is the eldest son of Sebian Antony Terrence and Princy Carmel Chandralatha Perera. He was born on April 24, 1982 and had his early education at Christ the King College, Kudella.

In 1999, he joined St. Aloysius Minor Seminary, Borella and in 2003 entered St. Eymard Intermediate Seminary in Palathota, Kalutara.

In 2004 he joined the National Seminary Ampitiya, Kandy and after completing his philosophical and theological studies he entered the Urbaniana Pontifical University in Rome.

He will be the 4th priest to be ordained from the Jaela Parish. Bro. Kasun will celebrate his first Holy Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Jaela on Sunday, April 22, 2012.

Rev. Deacon Kasun Ishara Fernando

Hailing from Wattala, is the son of Wijesinghe Muhamdiramge Gerard Ignatius Perera and Vincentia Stephanie Evangeline.

He is one of twins and was born on May 16, 1976 and had his early education at St. Joseph’s College, Colombo 10 and in 2001 joined the Cistercian Seminary in Australia.

In 2010 he joined the National Seminary Ampitiya, Kandy and completed his philosophical and theological studies.

He took his final vows as a Cistercian monk in 2011 and was attached to the Katugastota Parish. Bro. Sylvester will celebrate his first Holy Mass at St. Anne’s Church, Wattala, on Sunday, April 22, 2012.
