His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, the Archbishop of Colombo, presided at the solemn celebration of 110 Anniversary of Holy Family Convent School, Bambalapitiya on 01st February 2013.

His Eminence was welcome by the Principal Rev. Sr. Chandani Jayasuriya, Principal of the primary school is Rev. Sr. Merita Fernando, other Rev. Sisters, Academic staff and the students and were accompanied by the School western & estern bands.

Very Rev. Fr. Anthony Fernandopulle Episcopal Vicar for Colombo Region, Rev. Fr. Ranjith Madurawela Manager of Catholic Schools, Rev. Fr. Travis Gabriel Rector of St. Peter's College, Bambalapitiya, Rev. Fr. Sunil De Silva Parish Priest of Bambalapitiya, Rev. Sister Proncial Superior and the Councillors of Holy Family Congregation, and a large numbe
past and present Familians of HFC, past principals, members of the PPA, PTA, and welfare committees and well wishers, participated in the solemn celebration.

His Eminence presided at the Eucharistic celebration of 110th Anniversary with the priests present. 110th Anniversary declaration was read out by a student and after the Holy Mass, the new Primary Computer Lab was opened and was blessed by His Eminence, and the anniversary celebration concluded with an entertainment programme of songs and dances performed by the students/

Holy Family Convent is a leading Catholic girls’ School in Sri Lanka, which was established in the year 1903 by the Holy Family Sisters from Ireland with just 28 students. Presently it comprises more than 3500 students and 200 teachers.
The school consists of the collegiate school, the primary school and the nursery. The Principal of the school is Rev. Sr. Chandani Jayasuriya while the Principal of the primary school is Rev. Sr. Merita Fernando. The school maintains a high standard in education, extra-curricular activities and also in discipline. The values of simplicity and concern for others, good conduct, courtesy and modesty are considered the hallmarks of a Familian.
