Sacred Relics of St. Anthony were brought to Sri Lanka on 07th March, from the Basilica of Padua, Italy. Sacred Relics were brought to St. Anthony's Shrine, Kochchikade amidst a very large crowd gather from Katumayake to Kochchikade. Negombo road was crowded with Catholics to see and pray before the Sacred Relics. At Kochchikade Shrine, His Grace Archbishop Malcolm Ranjith presided at the Eucharistic celebration.
On an appeal made by His Grace Archbishop Malcolm Ranjith, the Government, Defence Ministry and the Sri Lanka Air Force obliged to provide Air Lift facilities from Bandarawela to Batticaloa, from Batticaloa to Jaffna, and from Jaffna to Mannar. This gives more time for people to pray before the Sacred Relics and we very thankful to the Government and all others concerned for this help. The government has also provided maximum security to take the Sacred Relics to all other Dioceses.
Sacred Relics will be brought once again to Kochchikade St. Anthony's Shrine on 19th March 2010.
