CALLED TO ETERNAL REST IN THE LORD

His Lordship Bishop Frank Marcus Fernando, the Emeritus Bishop of Chilaw was called to Eternal rest in the Lord in the evening today, 24th August 2009.


His mortal remains were brought to the Sacred Heart Chapel in the Archbishop's House, Borella at 12.00 noon and His Grace Archbishop Malcolm Ranjith presided at the Requiem Mass together with His Excellency the Apostoloic Nuncio in Sri Lanka Archbishop Joseph Spiteri, Bishop Marius Peiris, Bishop Emeritus Elmo Perera and Mons. Baudouin Muankembe. Prayer Service after the Mass was conducted by the Apostolic Nuncio and thereafter his mortal remains were transferred to St. Mary's Cathedral, Chilaw and will lie at the Cathedral until the funeral and burial on Thursday 27th August 2009.

Funeral will be on Thursday 27th August 2009 at 3.00 p.m. at St. Mary's Cathedral, Chilaw.
